I was surprised to see this well-worn fireplace mantel repurposed as a headboard. it′s a really great idea that Mike and I are going to have to consider. The look you create will depend on the mantel you find. It could be a huge old oak surround antique cast iron or a brightly painted contemporary design.
The easiest way to dream up a great scheme for a bedroom design is to focus on finding a fabulous headboard. It is the centerpiece of any successful bedroom design and designers and homeowners alike are becoming very creative when it come to determining this element of the room. From wonderfully detailed upholstered headboards to using unlikely materials expanding the possibilities of what a can become a headboard can be the start of a remarkable bedroom design.
Four tufted panels create a very tall headboard. This is a good trick for matching the scale of a room with very high ceilings bringing the bed up to chandelier height. Similarly when confronted with the vast spread of concrete and high walls in this loft an attention-grabbing headboard keeps the bed from getting lost and looking puny. Adding sconces over the matching nightstands visually extends the width of the bed. Together these moves create one big piece that can stand up to the scale of the room.
