If there′s one room where I′ll advocate the most for drama it′s the bedroom. Your bed is the most important piece of furniture in the room in fact sometimes it doesn′t matter if it′s the only piece of furniture in the room! This bed needs to be welcoming relaxing and have a presence. A tall headboard can accomplish this. It can make a low ceiling seem higher and it can keep your bed from looking lost in a bedroom with high ceilings. It also provides a backdrop for your bedscape. I′ve nicknamed these unconventionally high headboards "Tall Boys." Take it away Tall Boys!
Going for baroque. If you’re going with an upholstered headboard the more luxurious the fabric the better. This bordello-chic bedroom as its designer calls it is furnished with a red velvet headboard framed in white solid wood. Red sheets and a white-faux fur throw contribute layers of richness.
If you use a rug as a headboard your options are nearly endless. Geometric floral striped shaggy needlepoint neutral — the sky′s the limit. There are a couple of caveats. Make sure the rug is at least as wide as your mattress; it could even be wide enough to frame your nightstands. But beware of rugs that are narrower than your bed as they′ll end up looking off — the headboard version of high-water pants. Before buying rugs online be sure to check the return policy. The rug the UPS guy drops off at the door may differ from what you thought you were getting.
