The tall tufted ivory headboard here creates a strong base for a variety of patterns and a burst of peacock blue. When using a patterned wallpaper placing a significant headboard against it is a good move. It gives the bed a strong presence and keeps the pattern of the wallpaper from taking over.
Going for baroque. If you’re going with an upholstered headboard the more luxurious the fabric the better. This bordello-chic bedroom as its designer calls it is furnished with a red velvet headboard framed in white solid wood. Red sheets and a white-faux fur throw contribute layers of richness.
Mantel me this. The design team at The Old Painted Cottage takes its company’s name seriously; just look at this headboard made from a 6-foot-wide fireplace mantel. An upholstered center ensures that pillows don’t fall into the surround’s empty cavity.
